Groves
Public Library is staffed by the Library Director, two full time employees, one
part-time employee and student from the BPA program at Port Neches-Groves.
Deborah Harper became
director of Groves Public Library in May 2005. She began her library career in
Kountze, Texas in 1989. Deborah’s goal as director of the library is to keep
pace with the changing library world and to keep library service fresh and
consistent. She believes in moving forward and never just “treading the
waters.” Deborah has been a certified county librarian since 1990. She
graduated from the first Small Library Management Training Program offered by
the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in the spring of 1996. In
charge of the daily operations of the library, Deborah’s door is always open to
patrons who need assistance or who would like to make a suggestion.
Louella Neeb is
in charge of technical services. She began her library career as a student
worker in 1981. Lou’s greatest gift is working with the children. She loves
singing the alphabet song with the Bookworms group. Her main job function is
receiving the materials that come into the library, entering them into the
automation system and processing them so that they are ready to be loaned to
the patrons. Lou became a certified county librarian in 2005. She is currently
attending Small Library Management training classes sponsored by the Texas
State Library and Archives Commission. Louella works full time at Groves Public
Library.
Marlayna
Mills began her library
career as a volunteer and now has been employed at the library since November
of 2004. Marlayna became a certified county librarian in 2006. She shelves the
many adult, teen, and audio materials that are returned each day making sure
that each one is done according to the Dewey decimal system, so that patrons
can retrieve the material when it is needed. She also works the circulation
desk. She is available to patrons for reader’s advisory or to help answer
reference questions. Marlayna began working as a full time employee in June
2008.

Kaye Jones began
working for Groves Public Library in December 2004. With
a background in teaching and sales, Kaye Jones says she's never stopped
teaching or selling. She enjoys showing patrons how to use the library's
resources, and she will do her best to "sell" a book she likes! Kaye’s
job is to work at the circulation desk, answer reference questions, and
processing the many donations that are received on a regular basis.
