The Groves Fire Station is located at 5911 W. Washington. This department consists of 14 full time fire fighters and 25 volunteers. The department serves the public in fire suppression, first responder medical services, rescue, hazardous material response. They also perform training, fire-cause determination, arson investigation, inspections, and other emergency and non-emergency duties associated with the fire service, as well as maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
The Groves Fire Department consists of a centrally located station which houses three pumpers, a utility van, a utility pickup, a Chief's car, and an Assistant Fire Marshal car. These apparatus carry necessary equipment needed in the performance of the duties associated with the Fire Department. The Fire Department is also very proactive in Fire Prevention Education to the Community.
The Fire Department now operates under a computer aided dispatch system which provides important response information such as hydrant location, invalid identification, emergency phone numbers to businesses and various other information related to the duties of the department.
Emergency calls to the department can be received direct, or through the 9-1-1 emergency system. The off duty and volunteer personnel are alerted to emergency calls through a paging system.
